This hands-on, one-day teaching session will demonstrate how to build and use a powerful form of visually interactive presentation called Topical Navigation. To see topical navigation in action, watch this 5-minute video.

Topical navigation is a highly effective presentation platform for professional speaking, sales, training, and education. It makes your job as a presenter very easy because you can move around within categories of information quickly, finding and selecting just the right slides for answering questions or spontaneously making points. Or, you don't have to navigate at all. Because topical navigation is based on a single, long, linear show, you can scroll through sets of slides in a standard linear way if desired. In other words, you have complete control over how and when you want to show anything and everything.

Also, during this training session you also will learn essential PowerPoint construction skills, such as working with shapes, pictures, and hyperlinks. And, you will explore cognitive design strategies that improve how viewers perceive and process visual messages. With these skills in hand, you then will be ready to customize a topical navigation template such as the one shown at left. Using this kind of template as a starting point significantly decreases construction time. In fact, by the end of the course, you will have a fully functional topical network in place that can be used in upcoming performances. As noted below, you may wish to bring existing presentation materials along so that you can practice integrating that content into your new network right away.

What you should bring to the training:

  • A PC laptop with PowerPoint installed (Note: We welcome and encourage Mac users to attend this event, but realize that all instructions will be in PC format only)
  • A memory stick containing your existing presentation materials, such as PowerPoint shows, pictures, movies, pdf files, and so forth
  • An external mouse (USB): Using a regular mouse (rather than a laptop’s touch pad) during building activities increases efficiency and speeds up progress.
  • A copy of the full-course Relational Presentation textbook if you have one—or if you don’t yet have the book, look in your registration confirmation e-mail for a link that reduces the cost of the book by 30%.

Sign up for this training event in the registration section at right. Registration fees are $600 AUD (Inc. GST) per person. If you have additional questions, please e-mail us at support@aspirecommunications.com or contact our Australian coordinator:

Design and Delivery Experience: Briefly describe below what kinds of presentations you make or deliver (ex. sales, training, teaching, internal status updates, conference speaking), and give an estimate of: 1) how many presentations you've built over the years; and 2) how many presentations you have delivered to a live audience during that time.
