Phase 2—Content Analysis: Most people building a presentation network already have a significant number of PowerPoint slides lying around somewhere, usually material they've used in past performances. Some of this material may be usable as is, and can be included in the network without modifications. Other existing content may be usable to some degree, but may require changes before inclusion. Still other content may be needed that does not yet exist in any form.
The content analysis process in Phase 2 gathers together all existing presentation materials and systematically determines what is valuable enough to keep and what will be tossed or rebuilt. Frequently the concepts behind slides are deemed valuable, but the actual slide design needs changing to better work within a Relational Presentation context. For example, you may decide that a slide containing five bullet points is important, but the points should be separated onto their own slides, to facilitate random selection.
The needs analysis activities of Phase 1 also inevitably reveal holes in your current content collection. Phase 2 documents what pieces of content are required to fill those holes.
