Topical Template Example (Showing Thumbnail Links vs. Text Links)
Topical navigation can have either text-based or thumbnail-based elements in its navigation panel (see examples below). Some people prefer thumbnail links because the small pictures give presentation materials a professional look, show previews of available slides, and occupy less space—enabling more links per area. Others prefer text links, especially in certain situations. Text links require less time to make and modify, don't increase file size, and are better if many slides in a show look alike—for example, when slide content is mostly bullet points, tables, and so forth. A rule of thumb: If slides contain a lot of visually descriptive pictures or graphics, go with thumbnails. Otherwise if slides are mostly text, use text links.
